Anglo Nigerian Chelsea teen prospect Ike Ugbo scored twice in a 4-2 win over their Tottenham Hotspurs counterparts to help Chelsea U-18 stretch their unbeaten run to twelve games.
It was also a record breaking victory as as the table toppers became the first Chelsea youth team to have ever gone 12 matches unbeaten in 31 years.
Ugbo, the youth team’s top goalscorer this season with 14 goals in all competitions broke the deadlock after just 10 minutes when he escaped through the middle and was brought down as he attempted to round goalkeeper Tom McDermott.
The referee was kind in allowing the visiting stopper to remain on the pitch, having denied Ugbo a clear goalscoring opportunity. However, the number nine was not so forgiving as he picked himself up and rolled the ball into the back of the net for his 15th goal of the campaign.
His second goal of the game came after some slack defending from the Spurs youngsters was punished by Richard Nartey who passed quickly to Ugbo who in turn used teammate Mason Mount as a diversion and was able to find the space to squeeze a shot into the bottom far corner.
He is an England youth international but is eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level.
