According to reports picked up by owngoalnigeria.com, the Nigeria U-17 world cup winning duo of captain Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze are close to joining Arsenal.
The gunners reportedly beat a host of teams to sign the highly rated Nigeria youngsters who were both very instrumental to Nigeria lifting the U-17.
Nwakali who captained Nigeria was voted as the tournament’s most valuable player (MVP) and his elder brother Chidibiere Nwakali is presently on the books of Manchester City but out on loan.
Left footed Chukwueze was among the top scorers for Nigeria but went a step further by scoring one of the tournament’s fastest goal history in a 5-1 rout over host Chile.
It took him no more than 25 seconds to write his name in the tournament record books and his well-taken strike was the third-fastest goal in the history of the competition, exceeded in speed only by Brazilians Fabinho at Korea 2007 and Celso at Peru 2005, who took only nine and 14 seconds respectively to find the back of the net.
