Peter Olayinka won’t be making his debut for his new team Gent anytime soon after suffering a setback in training picking up an injury that will keep him out for a month.
Olayinka joined Gent from Albania’s Skenderbreu Korce where he was top scorer in a deal reported to be a transfer record sale in the history of the league.
He was scheduled to make his debut this Thursday in a cup game against their eternal rival Club Brugge as his Nigerian compatriot at the team Moses Simon is suspended for the tie.
However coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck confirmed the injury blow to the 20 year old, a tear in the attachmentof his ankle and lower leg and it will keep him out for four to six weeks.
“It is unfortunate when a player who is new at a club suffers such a serious injury” He said in his pre match conference.
In the absence of Olayinka and the suspended Moses Simon,Gent will once again rely on Thomas Matton who is fully fit.
