OFFICIAL: UTAKA LEAVES RELEGATED SHIMIZU S-PULSE FOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

Peter Utaka will for the next six months defend the colours of the league champions in Japan Sanfrecc after leaving second division Japanese side Shimizu S-Pulse on winter transfer deadline day.

31 year old Utaka who has had spells in Denmark and China is the younger brother to former Super Eagles forward John Utaka and he moved to Japan last year only to suffer relegation with Shimizu S-Pulse despite scoring 9 times from 28 games.

He joins Sanfrecce Hiroshima on a six month loan deal hoping to help them do well in the Asian Champions League as well as retaining their league crown.

They are presently top of the table going into the second round of matches in the J-League three points clear of Kashima Antlers in second position and the Nigerian who has three caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria is gradually following in the footsteps of ex Nigeria forward Momodu Mutairu who is now retired but played in Japan from 1997 to 1999.
