Arsenal rising star Alex Iwobi says Manchester City teen star Kelechi Iheanacho is his closest teammate in the Nigeria national team.
Iwobi made this known during a twitter chat with arsenal fans tagged #AskIwobi while reacting to a question from a Nigerian follower.
“It could be Kelechi Iheanacho, yeah, I’ll probably say him” Iwobi said when asked who is his best friend in the Nigeria national team.
A sign of how close the pair are was clearly shown on the 22 of December when Iwobi proudly posted on his twitter handle a Manchester City jersey given to him by Iheanacho after Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Manchester City.
Both players are expected to spark a tug of war between the coaches of the Nigeria senior national team and that of the U-23 as they are both keen on their services ahead of their various engagements later in the year.
The 19 year old who recently got promoted to the first team squad where he got jersey number 26 as a confirmation of his rising status praise manager Arsene Wenger for giving him the chance to express himself in the first team.
He however conceded that as a youngster growing up with the Arsenal Academy Chuba Akpom was the best striker at their youth ranks as he was scoring goals for fun unlike him who is focused on picking up assist.
