Nigeria U-17 winning duo of Kingsley Michael and Orji Okonkwo snubbed Football Academy Abuja (FAA) trip to Italy despite the opportunities they might get from the trip.
Owngoalnigeria.com can however reveal they snub the trip to Italy with their teammates out of fear that they will be forced to remain in Italy with Serie B side Spezia, a partner to their academy in Abuja.
The Academy funded by Croatian investors are linked to Croatian side HNK Rijeka and Italian Serie B side Spezia which involves transfers of talented Nigeria players to the team.
Orji in particular has trained with the Serie B side before joining the Nigeria U-17 team but refused to go back after winning the world cup as he has bigger and better teams chasing him.
Kingsley on the other hand has been evading overtures from the academy since winning the U-17 World cup and his latest act in snubbing the team’s trip to Italy shows his interest is somewhere else.
