Stephen Odey of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) surprise team,MFM FC says he is focused on achieving his season’s target of at least 10 goals.
18 year old Odey scored the winner against Wikki Tourist on Friday in the NPFL Friday Night live game but aside that he has also scored in games against Enugu Rangers,El-Kanemi Warriors and Sunshine Stars.
” I have just four goals this season which to me is close to half of what I planned to achieve before the start of the season, so I need to score more goals and am focused on that” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.
Personally he is hoping to catch the attention of Nigeria national youth team handlers as he is still eligible for the U-20s and 23s.
” It will be the crowning moment of my short career if am called up by handlers of any of the junior national teams, it’s not for me to demand for it, I have to earn it, so first of all am focused on myself”.
On how far he thinks MFM can go this season, the soft speaking speedy forward says he is optimistic they will finish in the top half of the table if they fail in their bid to qualify for CAF continental competitions.
“For now we are enjoying the attention and the table looks good when your team is in a comfortable position, I personally think we will finish in the top half of the table, that is if we don’t win the league or qualify for CAF tournaments at the end of the season by the grace of God”
