Nigeria U-20s right full back John Lazarus is expected to resume training tomorrow as the injury that lead to his substitution during the Flying Eagles AYC 2017 qualifiers against Burundi is not as bad as initially feared.

The news means the Flying Eagles who are now in Abuja will resume training tomorrow with the full compliment of their players in preparations for their return leg clash against Burundi after winning the first tie by a lone goal away in Bujumbura.

As exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com, Lazarus was substituted in the second half by coach Emmanuel Amuneke after picking up what looked liked an ankle injury.

However a team source revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com that the 18 year old wasn’t badly injured and his substitution was done due to his average showing in the game as well as not wanting to aggravate the knock.

“He had a kick on his ankle during the game but he could easily have continue playing if he wasn’t substituted, as much as the knock leading to his withdrawal, he also wasn’t on top of his game” a team source told Owngoalnigeria.com.
