The Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a 1-0 win over Mali in an international friendly played in France courtesy of a second half strike from substitute Kelechi Iheanacho. Daniel Martins who covered the game rates the performance of players of the Super Eagles who featured in the encounter.

CARL IKEME: Had very little to do in the first half but was lucky not to have conceded before the half time break, strong showing from the defence line shielded him properly from the Malians….6.5/10

Musa Mohammed: Shaky start from the debutant but recovered and almost scored in the first half , had a better second half although his cause was helped by the shyness of the Malians in attack….6.5/10

Kingsley Madu: Played with a smile on his face, attacked when he had to but defensively was found wanting on more than one occassion, a solid but not spectacular showing….6/10

Leon Balogun: Predominantly a right full back but didn’t look out of place playing as a centre back, dovetailed nicely with Troost Ekong, neat in possession and was solid in aerial duel….7.5/10

William Troost Ekong: Quick off the ground and very hard in tackle, need work on his movement especially in situations when they are trying to set the offside trap for opponents….7/10

Shehu Abdullahi: Part of a midfield three that shielded the central defence from pressure, still need to work on his ball distribution though….7/10

Oghenekaro Etebo: Did his job with a level of maturity that one has to applaud considering his age, however he should be scoring more going by how he gets into goal scoring position….6.5/10

Eddy Onazi: Full of running but not much invention with the ball, guilty of miss hitting some simple pass by trying to play spectacularly, the captain of the day however did a good job defensively for nhis team….6.5/10

Alex Iwobi: Didn’t quite get into the rhythm of the game early, but settled down nicely later on, but didn’t show enough to justify his class and why he is so highly rated at Arsenal ….6/10

Moses Simon: Appears lost on the right, didn’t do any of his trademark take on. He was predictable and failed to spark a very boring first half to life with failed dribbles….6/10

Odion Ighalo: Another game and another reason to doubt if he will ever come good for the Nigeria national team like his English Premiership side Watford, came close to scoring in the first half but did nothing extraordinary in the second half….5/10

Kelechi Iheanacho: Played the last 17 minutes of the game and twice came close to scoring, scored with one but narrowly missed the other, there something about him that every team needs and that is his ability to decide a game like he did to this tie….8/10

Raheem Lawal: Didn’t do a lot without the ball but ooze class when on the ball, slotted in nicely with neat and crisp touches….6/10

Aminu Umar: If there’s anything the 21 year old has been known for it is his work rate, didn’t show enough in the opponent’s box but covered more grounds than some players who lasted the entire duration of the game….6/10

Brown Ideye: Would have loved to score a goal on his return to the team but lack of service from the midfielder limited him to half baked chances which didn’t quite come off for him….5.5/10

Babatunde Michael: The only other player bar Iheanacho who came on and immediately changed the rhythm of the game, mazy dribbles, strong runs and calmness on the ball, has improved tremendously from the last time he wore a Nigeria shirt….7.5/10
