The Nigeria U-23 team will on Saturday take on the U-20 team in a friendly game with the U-23s aiming to avenge a 2-1 loss to the Emmanuel Amuneke lead lads two weeks ago.

Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal that the game was arranged for Saturday with head coach of the U-23s Samson Siasia requesting the tie after having full compliment of the players he hopes to prosecute the upcoming Suwon Invitational tournament at his disposal.

Nigeria U-23s will prosecute the friendly game with a team of players who will most likely defend Nigeria’s colour at the pre Olympic tournament in South Korea as the final 23 man squad is expected to be named on Friday, a day before the game.

Siasia faulted absence of key players as part of the reasons why his team were beaten 1-2 by the U-20s who followed up on that victory with a 1-0 win away to Burundi in their first leg tie of the 2017 Africa Youth Championship qualifiers.

On their part the Nigeria U-20s who are taking on Burundi in the reverse fixture of their Africa U-20 qualifiers on 7th of June will be hoping for more of the same like the last time out against their seniors in the Nigeria national team levels as a catalyst to propel them to victory over Burundi in Calabar.

Victor Osimhen and Funsho Bamgboye got the goals for the Flying Eagles which gave them the 2-1 victory with Daniel Etor scoring the only goal for the U-23s.
