Owngoalnigeria can authoritatively reveal that Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon are ahead of English Premiership side West Ham in the race to sign Nigeria U-20 midfielder Chukwudi Agor.
We gathered the intermediary of the 17 year old defensive midfielder have already met with representatives of Sporting Lisbon although they are reports in the Nigeria media suggesting West Ham are also weighing up a move for him.
Scouts of Sporting Lisbon were alerted to the talents of the ASJ Academy product by a close friend of the present coach of Nigeria U-20s Emmanuel Amunike who had a two year stint with the Lions from 1994 to 1996.
However any move for the midfield anchorman who played four games and scored one goal for Nigeria at the last U-17 World Cup which they won in Chile will have to wait till November when he turns 18 years old.
Agor who has grown into a box to box midfielder from his primarily role as a defensive midfielder when Nigeria won the last U-17 World Cup scored Nigeria’s U-20s lone goal away in Burundi in the first leg tie of their 2017 Africa Youth Championship qualifiers which Nigeria later won 3-1 on aggregate.
