Chelsea second longest serving player Mikel Obi is unhappy with his close friend and soccer intermediary Babawo Mohammed for picking a wedding date in the month of July.
Babawo Mohammed picked the 30th of July as date for his wedding to Hajara Saleh Barde which will take place in Kaduna infuriating Mikel who will be unable to attend as the date coincides with when Chelsea will be having their pre season tour.
Aside Chelsea’s pre season tour, Mikel’s planned involvement with the Nigeria Olympic team will keep him away from the wedding, a situation that has angered the Chelsea star.
“Mikel is very mad at me, but I didn’t pick the date, in Islam the family of the bride choose the date, I couldn’t force or change it as I would have loved to, personally I would have love to have him around as well” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.
The intermediary has a long standing relationship with the Chelsea star that dates back to long before he became a football star and got into the business of player management after mediating in the transfer of Mikel to Chelsea in 2006.
A former player and captain of defunct Nigerian top league side JUTH FC, Babawo is from a very rich and popular family in Jos but opted for football which he combined with education before quiting at a young age to become a soccer agent.
This summer he is set to be involved in over 10 deals involving Nigerian players following the success of his annual scouting programme which took place in Abuja with scouts from top European teams attending the four days event.
