29 year old former Super Eagles forward Chinedu Obasi has retraced his footsteps back to Norway where he began his European career nine years ago.
Edu as he is fondly called signed a short term deal with Lillestrom after impressing the handlers during a short trial process and according to him he is keen on discovering his old self in the league.
“The Norwegian league is good, and it will fit me suit me better for now. This is a great chance for me to come back. I’m injury free, but need some time to get in shape. I will do my best for Lillestrom” He said to rb.no.
The Nigerian who has not played in any form of competitive football since 2014 when he was released by Schalke O4 missed out on a chance to join English Premiership side Sunderland last season but he has been offered a lifeline to resurrect his career by Lillestrom thanks to the Sporting Director of the team Torgeir Bjarmann.
Bjarmann was Sporting Director at Lyn Oslo when Obasi played there from 2004-2007 scoring 14 goals from 29 games before he was sold to Hoffeinheim in Germany.
At Lillestrom he will team up with two young Nigerians at the club in forward Friday Fred who is currently the top scorer in the league and defensive midfielder Bonke Innocent.
