Alhaji Liamed Gafar, owner of 36 Lions, the nursey club of Al-Ahly of Egypt target Junior Ajayi has stopped the forward from making a big money move to the Egyptian giants, Owngoalnigeria.com can excluisvely reveal.
Sfaxien have already accepted Al-Ahly’s bid of $1.5m for Ajayi who is reportedly keen on leaving the Tunisians for the Egyptian side but Gafar who still remains the mentor to the former Shooting Stars forward has advised him to focus on a move to Europe.
Gafar told 20 year old Ajayi to focus on been a part of the Nigeria team to the Olympics in Rio where a good performance could earn him a move to a top European team in the summer.
Owngoalnigeria.com gathered from sources close to Gafar that the 36 Lions boss is wary of Ajayi making same mistake like Imoh Ezekiel who opt for a big money move to Qatar when he was heavily in demand during his days at Standard Liege.
Ezekiel who is now disillusioned with life in the Middle East is acting as a case study for Gafar who also doubles as the mentor to the forward who could line up alongside Ajayi for Nigeria at the Olympics in Rio.
