Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose had a night to forget for Celtic against Barcelona in a pre season game after scoring an own goal in their 1-3 loss to the Spanish champions.
Ambrose stretched to cut out a cross from Barcelona in the 31st minute, but ended up turning the ball past his own goal kepper to help Barcelona regain their lead shortly after Celtic drew level.
The own goal made fans of Celtic who have been critical of the Nigerian the last one year to result to booing the defender until he was replaced in the 63rd minute by manager Brendan Rodgers.
Although the 27 year old gave a good account of himself in the game, the own goal lead to calls for him to be drop from the team on Wednesday when they take on Kazakhstan side FC Astana, in the reverse tie of their UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
Ambrose was one of their best players in the first leg which they drew 1-1 on Wednesday although he got to play due to an injury crisis in the team’s defence, but with new signing Kolo Toure making his debut today he could drop to the bench on Wednesday.
