Out of favour Super Eagles forward Gbolahan Salami has broken the club goal scoring record of Finnish side KuPS in a single season, after scoring his 13th goal in the league om Monday.
Salami’s goal for KuPS against HIFK saw him go past the 12 goal record set by IIja Venalainen in 2013, as well as Peter Sampo tally of 12 achieved in 2001.
The Nigerian is guarantee to finish as the club top scorer this season, which is his first with the club after joining them at the start of the year from Nigeria Premier League side Warri Wolves.
He was presented with a giant trophy by the club in honour of his feat, bringing to two the number of trophies his goals have given him in the last six months, after lifting the top scorer award in the Nigeria Premier League.
However, he has been shut out of the Nigeria national team despite his goals rush since the exit of former coach Super Eagles coach late Stephen Keshi. However they are reports that new manager Gernot Rohr is currently considering him for a recall.
