Highly rated former FC Porto Nigerian defender Pius Udeme Junior has confirmed to Owngoalnigeria.com that he will sign the dotted lines for Rio Ave in the coming weeks.
Junior Pius represented Porto U19 in the 2015-2016 before moving to Sajonense AD where he has grown in leaps and bounds this season, which lead to interest from team like Belenenses, CD Chaves, Arouca and Rio Ave.
He opt to join Rio Ave due to the presence of his former coach at Porto B, who is now at the helm at the Portuguese top division team.
” I am yet to sign for Rio Ave contrary to speculation and reports in the Portuguese matter, but by next week I will sign because they’re just waiting to play their last game”, Junior Pius told Owngoalnigeria.com.
The hard tackling defender who is also known for his effectiveness in the opponent’s penalty box has played 36 games this season, with 8 goals to his name from his role as a central defender.
Aside that he has also worked on his discipline with just 8 yellow cards registered against his name this season despite playing in almost all of the games of his team.
