Super Eagles central defender Chidozie Awaziem has been a handed a lifeline at Portuguese side FC Porto following the axing of the coach who demoted him to the B team this season.
Awaziem has his breakthrough at the Portuguese side two seasons ago progressing through the youth team to the main team, where he made 10 league appearances and four more in Cup games.
However following the sack of Jose Peseiro and the subsequent employment of Nuno Espirito Santo, the 20 year old defender lost his first team spot, as the manager went for other players ahead of him.
He has not made the matchday squad this season for the first team, with all his 35 appearances this season coming for the B team, who are in the second division in Portugal.
Yesterday Porto announced the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo, a move Awaziem will be hoping work in his favour when preparations resume for next season, where it is expected that he would have been a Nigerian international before then.
The Gee-Lec football tournament discovery will likely make his debut for Nigeria against Corsica or Togo in the upcoming friendly games lined up by coach Gernot Rohr in France.
