Highly rated Nigeria U-23 midfielder Usman Muhammed will officially begin life as a Barcelona player on the 12th of July, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively confirm.
Usman impressed the coaches of the B team during a short trial at the club towards the end of last season, and will join the team on a free transfer on the 1st of July when his contract expires with Uniao Madeira.
The Portuguese side signed the talented midfielder before the Olympics, but dispute over payment of his wages and transfer fee ensured he didn’t make a single appearance for the team for the duration his two year deal lasted.
He will now resume with the rest of his Barcelona teammates on the 12th of July, when new coach Ernesto Valverde is also expected to start running the rule on all players of the club.
However players on the fringes of the first team like Usman are expected to be the early birds before the established players join them for full pre season session a week later.
The fate of Usman joining the team in their tour of the United States will be decided in seven days as the team will depart for the states on the 19th of July.
