Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo was handed the captain armband by coach of the Chelsea U23s Eddie Newton in their 1-1 draw against Crawley Town in a pre season game played earlier today.

Omeruo was making his first appearance for Chelsea at any level since 2014, when he played for the U23s and the 23 year old posted a strong showing in the tie according to sources who watched the game.

He lead the team as captain in the game and his constant barking out of instructions helped the young players in the team switched on for the entire duration of the 1-1 draw.

Crawley Town who are popularly referred to by some as the Red Devils found the backline of Chelsea a hard nut to crack with Omeruo particularly impressive in breaking up play and setting up attack from the rear.

A move to English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers is on the cards for the defender as exclusively reported by this portal, however it’s yet to be seen if his performance in today’s tie will made first team coach Antonio Conte have a change of heart.
