Coach of Chelsea Antonio Conte is eyeing Southampton Portuguese defender Cedric Soares to provide cover and competition to Victor Moses who is presently the only credible option available to the coach as a right wing back.

Conte has reportedly sanctioned a bid of around £13.6m for the right back who starred for Portugal in their triumph at the last European Championship Euro 2016 held in France.

The coach has voiced out the lack of options available to him especially at right-wing-back, and the team felt the absence of Moses in their opening Premier League game which they lost 2-3 to Burnley.

However Southampton are known to be tough in negotiations as Liverpool failed with an attempt to land their captain Virgil Van Dijk earlier this summer, with Chelsea also reportedly on the trail of the Dutch man as well.

The tough stance of Southampton during negotiation isn’t the only potential problem Chelsea could face in their bid to land the 26 year old as they are also facing competition from Juventus and Barcelona who are all reportedly in the running for the defender who joined Southampton ‎from Sporting Lisbon for £4.7m in 2015.
