Girona pulled the upset of the week in the La-Liga , which could possibly be for the season as they claim a historic 2-1 win over defending La-Liga Champions Real Madrid.
The newly promoted outfit went behind as early as the 12th minute of play, but two second half goals from Cristian Stuani and Cristian Portu separated by just four minutes helped them claim a first time win over the Spanish powerhouse.
On loan Manchester City striker Olarewaju Kayode was brought on with eight minutes left to play in the game, and the 24 year old put up a very good shift defensively to help his team maintain their lead.
Kayode who was voted Man of the Match in Girona’s 2-1 win over Deportivo La Coruna last week is on a season long loan from Man City, the team he joined in the summer from Austrian side Austria Wien.
He plundered 24 goals last season for the modest Austrian side but this season he has found goals hard to come by with Girona in the 8 games he has played this season.
