Coach of PSG Unai Emery has called on referees in the French Ligue 1 to provide protection for world most expensive player Neymar against tough tackling defenders.

Neymar failed to shine over the weekend despite PSG thrashing Nantes 4-1, no thanks to Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem who posted a man of the match performance in keeping the Brazilian in check.

Awaziem stuck to Neymar for most part of the weekend game, and denied him a clear chance to score PSG’s fifth goal with a brave block when the Brazilian was clear on goal.

Emery while defending Neymar’s inability to score after the game despite his team scoring five times pointed out the various fouls he suffered during the game as part of the reason.

He said Neymar was unfairly stopped from making incursions into the box of Nantes by some desperate defending which went unpunished by the referee and called for his star man to be given some level of protection by referees.
