Dutch side ADO Den Haag have confirmed talks with Portuguese giants Benfica over the winter transfer of Nigeria international defender Tyronne Ebuehi ‎.

Ebuehi has been linked with several clubs after his refusal to sign a contract extension at ADO Den Haag, where he will be out of contract in the summer and could walk away for free.

Benfica and the defender have already agreed a five year contract, but the issue still holding the deal still remains if he should move now or later in the summer.

ADO Den Haag are pushing for the defender to remain with them on loan for the rest of the season, while Benfica also have the opportunity to wait until the summer and sign him for free.

The Eredivisie side didn’t disclose the terms they are negotiating with Benfica, but a post on their official twitter handle suggest the move could be done faster than many imagined.

22 year old Ebuehi is expected to turn up for Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia later in the year, after his decision to play for Nigeria despite his eligibility to play for the Netherlands.

He made his debut for Nigeria in their 4-2 win over Argentina in a friendly game in Russia last year, and his performance drew him praises from both the Nigerian coach Gernot Rohr and coach of Argentina Jorge Sampaoli.
