A member of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) Garba Lawal has lashed out at coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr over his poor treatment of Standard Liege midfielder Uche Agbo.
Agbo was dropped from the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup after failing to play a single competitive game for the team despite getting called up in the past two years following the appointment of Gernot Rohr.
Lawal who was also unhappy with Rohr for not running his list through the NFF Technical Committee before making it public wondered why the coach kept on calling him without ever giving him a chance to prove himself.
He said Agbo’s invitation was on merit as he was a regular at his club but Rohr badly managed him by not giving him the chance to properly push for a shirt in the team in the two years he has been at the helm.
” Agbo was poorly managed by Rohr. You can’t call a player for two years constantly and not even give him few minutes to express himself. Not even in friendly games. That’s is sad and it’s a case of poor man management “, Lawal told Owngoalnigeria.com in a chat.
” I got to know about the World Cup 23 man list like every other Nigerian. Rohr didn’t run it through the Technical Committee as contained in his contract. This is not the first time he is doing so”, Lawal concluded.
