The rumoured decision of coach Gernot Rohr to drop Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi from his starting line up against Iceland for Ahmed Musa took a twist yesterday when the coach refused to deny the report.

Gernot Rohr according to several reports has decided to drop Iwobi from the starting line up against Iceland after his failure to impress against Croatia in the Super Eagles opening game which they lost 0-2.

Musa replaced him in the second half during the course of the Saturday game and reports suggest that Musa could start today’s game ahead of Iwobi with Rohr hoping to play him from the left wing and Victor Moses on the right.

Asked about the possibility of the above happening against Iceland today, Rohr was quick to point out that his team need nothing but an outright win, hence he will take the best decision for the game. Clearly refusing to confirm or deny reports that Musa is in line to start ahead of Iwobi against Iceland.

“We have to respect the players. First, the players need to know then the press. We don’t want to hide anything but we need to prepare our team the best way possible”, the coach said.
