Dutch top division side AZ Alkmaar have opened the door Nigerian striker Fred Friday to leave the club before the end of the summer transfer window after failing to impress since his move to the club two years ago.
Fred joined the team from Norwegian side Lillestroem for a fee in the region of €1.5m but he has failed to live up to expectations with just seven league goals for the team in 28 games.
He spent the second half of last season on loan to Sparta Rotterdam where he scored four goals in 14 league games which was insufficient to help them maintain their top flight status.
23 year old Fred has been told in clear terms that he is no longer needed by coach John van den Brom. A reason why he left him out of the squad for the weekend game against Emmen.
The coach has decided to put his trust in 17 year old forward Myron Boadu as Fred has failed to convince to in the games he has played for the team under the coach.
