Mainz 05 forward Anthony Ujah has been recalled to the senior national team of Nigeria for the back to back AFCON 2019 Qualifiers games against Libya, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
The 27 year old played his way into the plan of coach Gernot Rohr after scoring twice in the Bundesliga in just three games this season from just 54 minutes of league football as he has been used mostly as a substitute.
Rohr initially said he was keeping a close eye on the Chinese League returnee and base on reports exclusively gathered by our editorial team , the coach has decided to give him a chance in the squad for the games against Libya.
Ujah last played for Nigeria three years ago in a friendly game against Niger Republic which Nigeria won 2-0 on the 8th of September 2015 with the forward firing blanks as the goals for Nigeria were scored by Ahmed Musa via the spot and Moses Simon.
Since his debut for Nigeria in 2013, the one time FC Cologne goal king is yet to score in six games from a combined total of 321 minutes tallied up from the Confederation Cup in 2013, World Cup 2014 Qualifiers and friendly games.
