Nigeria are still keen on QPR rising star Ebere Eze who is set to make his debut for the U20 national team of England this weekend, the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has hinted.
Eze was heavily tipped to make the Super Eagles squad for the double header against Libya in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers but he was snubbed, few days later he was called up to the U20 of the English team.
Even if he makes his debut for England, he will still be eligible to switch allegiance to Nigeria and Rohr has hinted that he will be welcomed to the Nigerian team in the future.
Asked by Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent, who specifically mentioned Eze, Rohr said he is still open to the idea of having new players who can improve the team in key areas where they are lacking.
” The idea is to have the best players play for Nigeria and as long as they are available, we are open to have them if they will improve our team in areas where we need improvement “, Rohr said.
” It’s very simple, players who are doing well for their clubs will be invited for games as we have lot of games coming up. They just need to be doing well and their time will definitely come”.
