Former Arsenal teen prospect Semi Ajayi appears to have cemented his spot in the squad of the senior national team of Nigeria thanks to his abilities to play in more than one role, coach of the team Gernot Rohr hinted.
Ajayi who has played the majority of his career as a centre back prior to his move to Rotherham has excelled as a defensive midfielder this season in some games.
The former Nigeria U20 trainee made his debut for Nigeria playing as a right full back in the game against Seychelles before playing as a centre back three days later in a friendly game against Liberia.
Explaining the strength of the 24 year old, Rohr said he has the ability to play in more than one role. Something which will provide balance to the Super Eagles in the absence of some players.
” Ajayi is a young player with a good education in football. He can play many positions, so he will give us balance when other players are missing. Against Seychelles he did well as a right side defender and in Liberia he was good as a central defender “, the Franco-German coach told Owngoalnigeria.com.
