The battle for the right hand spot of the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of today’s clash against Libya has been won by Samuel Kalu, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Kalu was in competition with his former teammate at Gent Moses Simon who is staging a return to the team after missing the World Cup in Russia due to injury.
Simon’s absence paved the way for Bordeaux new signing Kalu to stage his claim for a spot in the Super Eagles and he didn’t disappoint in his debut game against Seychelles which Nigeria won 2-0 for their first AFCON 2019 Qualifiers victory.
On the strength of their performances for their clubsides the duo were invited for the game against Libya and it led to discussions on how will get the nod to start.
Base on several training drills and practice match in the training sessions witnessed by Owngoalnigeria.com, Kalu is prime to start today’s game by 4pm while Simon who has also been lively in training will at best play the role of a substitute.
