The decision to hand Paderborn left full back Jamilu Collins a start in his first competitive game for Nigeria by coach Gernot Rohr came as a surprise to many but not sources close to the team.
Collins started the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against Libya and gave a good account of himself with many Nigerians praising his performance as one of the best in the 4-0 drubbing of Libya.
He almost got himself on the score sheet with a string overlapping run from back but his chipped effort came off the bar in the first half. Overall he defended and linked up well with the rest of the team in attack.
” He is capable of doing much more, he just have to keep on improving. The balance he gave us is clear but this is just one of the two games we hope to get a good result. Away in Tunisia, we will look out for a good performance from all the players “, the coach said.
