Enugu Rangers are champions of this year Nigeria Aiteo Cup after an amazing comeback from three goals down to draw 3-3 before finally winning 5-4 on penalties and in the process earned the ticket to represent Nigeria in next year CAF Confederation Cup.
Pillars started the game on the bright side with captain and club legend Rabiu Ali putting them ahead in the 5th minute after nice work from striker Nyima Nwagua on the left.
Ten minutes later Alhassan Ibrahim who is set for trials with Danish side Brondby increased the tally for the Kano based side after his well executed corner kick wrong footed goalkeeper Olufemi Thomas to nestle in the net.
Minutes into the second half Pillars impressive forward Nwagua got the goal his performance deserve after knocking Okey Odita off the ball to rifle home the third for Pillars.
Rangers responded by taking off goalkeeper Thomas with Nana Bonsu taking his place but it was another substitute Kelvin Itoya who sparked what ended up as a late rally with a well struck effort to bring scores to 3-1.
Chidera Ezeh lashed in another goal for the Flying Antelopes to bring scores to 3-2 and as expected a frenetic end to the game was next with Pillars rattled by the fight as Rangers pushed for a third.
Two minutes to regulation time, the comeback was made a reality when Ibrahim Ajani nod home the third for Rangers after Pillars failed to clear their lines from a corner kick.
Rabiu Ali and Ola Jimoh missed from the spots during shoot outs while Enugu Rangers were spot on with all their efforts from the spots to emerge as champions.
