John Ogu Favourite To Replace Suspended Ndidi Against South Africa In AFCON Qualifiers Tie

Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfield ace John Ogu is the first choice option of coach Gernot Rohr in midfield as replacement for Leicester City Wilfred Ndidi, who will miss the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie against South Africa next month.

Ndidi picked up a booking in the closing stages of the 3-2 away win over Libya, hence ruling him out of the next game against South Africa, a tie which could decide the leadership of the group.

Ogu made a positive impression on Rohr following his introduction against Libya in the second half and despite Rohr confirming the possibility of Ogenyi Onazi returning to the team following his return to full fitness, it’s Ogu that is likely going to get the nod to start.

Praised by Rohr for his character, commitment and patience, Ogu has seen few games under Rohr even though he has been ever present as a squad member the past two years and even played in defence in build up games to the World Cup.
