Former golden boy of Nigerian football Macauley Chrisantus has emerged as league champion with Finnish side HJK Helsinki following the conclusion of the league yesterday as they finished with 78 points ahead of RoPS on 62 points.
28 year old Chrisantus joined the team as a free agent in the summer on a short term deal after his departure from Spanish side Murcia and he made nine appearances in their run up to the league title.
He found the back of the net in their Europa League qualifiers tie against Olimpija, a game they lost 1-4 following their demotion to the Europa League after Bate Borisov eliminated them from the qualifiers of the UEFA Champions League on a 2-1 aggregate score.
A decision on his future is expected to be made soon although his adviser Akinyemi Busola insist he is not in anyway in a rush to sort his future out but talks will take place with interested teams in the coming days.
” The season has just ended and he is still in joyous mood. We will take our time and study offers and also welcome more from interested teams. For now I can’t say if he will be staying in Finland or not but in the coming days it will be clear”, he concluded.
