Former FC Porto teen prospect Pius Udeme Junior was once again the leader for Pacos Ferreira in defence as they picked up a 1-0 win away to Vitoria SC B to consolidate their position as leaders in the Portuguese second division.
Since joining the team on loan from top division side Tondela, Junior who had his top flight bow last season cut short by injury, when he broke into the starting line up of Tondela has been impressive for Pacos Ferreira in their push to return to the top flight following their relegation at the end of last season.
In seven games this season, the 22 year old central defender has played a huge role in the six clean sheets they have kept with his performance earning him the nickname “Mr Clean Sheet” by fans of the club.
His form has not gone unnoticed by top teams in the Portuguese division but Pacos have the first option of signing him permanently when his loan deal expires next summer and they will most likely trigger the option.
Since leaving the B team of FC Porto, Junior has progressed rapidly through the ranks of the various league levels in Portugal as he has played in the third, second and first division respectively all within a space of three years.
