Former Nigeria U17 and 20 defence ace Ejike Ikwu won’t be able to play for the first team of Spanish third division side Recreativo de Huelva until January, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Ikwu is now confined to playing games for the youth team after the late arrival of his transfer documents denied the club the chance to register him before the deadline for registration of players in the third division in Spain.
He will now play games for the youth team until January when the window reopens for registration of new players and it will leave him with just six months to convince the hierarchy of the club that he deserve a permanent deal.
Signed on a season long loan deal from Inter FC of Enugu, his progress with the youth team will be the yardstick for the club in judging him in his early days for possible elevation to the first team by the turn of the year.
Already he has played in three games with many crediting him with an above average score despite playing as a full back and not in his preferred central defence role like he did for Nigeria at youth level.
