Samuel Chukwueze is one name that has dominated discussions recently following his breakthrough at Villarreal and also his first call up to the senior national team of Nigeria but it hasn’t been all smooth for the 19 year old, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.

Chukwueze was few details away from joining Arsenal shortly after his exploits with the U17 team of Nigeria at the 2015 World Youth Championship but the move failed to see the light of the day due to difference in their valuation regarding his transfer fee.

He met Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger alongside his teammate Kelechi Nwakali who ended up joining the club, while Chukwueze had to search for a new home and FC Porto were his next destination in his bid to step up his career.

At Porto the club had him train with their U18s for two weeks but surprisingly turned down the chance to sign him not due to his lack of ability but once again due to disagreement over what should be paid as transfer fee.

Villarreal who have been on his trail since the U17 World Youth Championship wasted no time in handing him a deal after a short trial and unlike the past teams where he went to the club agreed to pay Diamond Academy the sum of €800,000 as transfer fee.

That surely looks like a bargain buy now considering his new deal at the club carries a clause of around 30 milion euros just a year after he was signed for less than a million euros. A testament to how high they rate him at the club.
