On loan Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo has received lots of accolades for his performance for Leganes in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga.
Omeruo started for Leganes for the fourth game in a row and lasted the entire duration of the game at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque, the home ground of modest Spanish side Leganes.
The Nigerian was up against Antoine Griezmann and Gelson Martins who led the line for Atletico Madrid in attack and he successful kept them in check with the goal scored by Griezmann coming from a free kick from close to 30 yards out.
During the game, Omeruo succeeded in making four successful tackles, two interceptions and five clearance for his time and his passing accuracy stood at an impressive 71.1% with six of his passes coming via long balls from his defence to attack.
He had an accomplished performance which suggest his growth at the Spanish side where he is on a season long loan deal from English Premier League side Chelsea and Leganes have the option of making the deal permanent after the expiration of the loan deal next summer.
