Hoffenheim defender Kevin Akpoguma who recently said he will consider playing for Nigeria if he fails to break into the German team won’t be cajole into making any quick decision on Nigeria, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Akpoguma turned down the chance to represent Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia to keep himself available for Germany at senior level after representing them at junior level in three different age grades.
However, the defender later said he hasn’t entirely close the door to representing Nigeria but he will only consider the option if all fails in his bid to represent Germany at senior level.
Coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr is yet to jump at the bait because he need players who have their hearts fully focused on representing Nigeria and not the ones who used the country as a fall back option.
For now a source close to the coach revealed he has no plans of meeting with the 23 year old to lure him to Nigeria as he did that twice prior to naming his squad for the World Cup in Russia and it’s now left for the player to reach out to him when he is ready.
