Dutch FA Move To Stop Losing Players With Dual Nationality After Loss Of Ebuehi, Ekong To Nigeria

The Dutch FA (KVNB) has taken the first step towards curbing the loss of players with dual nationality to other nations as they move to strengthen their national team, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.

KVNB has asked clubs in the league to submit a list of players in their youth teams with dual nationality and the clubs are also required to submit information from parents of the players if they possess an identity card of the Netherlands.

In recent time Nigeria succeeded in luring the duo of Tyronne Ebuehi and William Troost-Ekong to shun the Dutch national team for the Super Eagles although they were not capped at senior level.

Last month, the Dutch were quick in handing another Dutch-Nigerian Arnold Groeneveld Danjuma his senior national team bow to kill off any chance of the Club Brugge forward switching allegiance to Nigeria.

Players like Hakim Ziyech, Sofyan Amrabat and Noussair Mazraoui have also switched allegiance to Morocco after representing the Dutch at youth level and this played a role in the recent action taken by the KVNB.
