Nigerian striker Donatus Iwezuife Edafe has put pen to paper on a contract to represent the current champions of I-League Minerva Punjab FC, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
I-League is the top tier of league football in India and Minerva were crowned champions at the end of last season and in preparation for their title defence they have signed the 25 year old Edafe to strengthen their options in attack.
Edafe last represented Slovakian side ND Gorica and during his one year spell at the club he scored five goals in all competitions from 23 games following his move from Mighty Jets of Jos.
Strong, powerful and quick, his playing style is similar to that of former Super Eagles forward Obafemi Martins. A trait which will no doubt put him in good stead to succeed in India.
At Minerva Punjab he will be united with fellow Nigerian Philip Njoku, who has so far played d in two games for the club since the start of the new season. Njoku last represented Finnish side Inter Turku before his move to the Indian side.
