Theophilus Afelokhai has arrived the camp of the Super Eagles ahead of their upcoming games against South Africa and Uganda with both ties scheduled for the 17th and 20th of November respectively.
Afelokhai was handed a call up to the squad following the injury forced withdrawal of first choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho which left the team with just the duo of Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi as options in goal.
Ezenwa is the second choice goalkeeper of the Super Eagles and he plays same role at Enyimba with Afelokhai the preferred option in goal in the latter stages of their CAF Champions League campaign.
Back in the Super Eagles squad for the first time since 2013 when he was first called up, the former Kano Pillars shot stopper said he is fired up for the battle ahead as his brief is to force his way into the plans of the coaches beyond the games against South Africa and Uganda.
” The national team is the dream of any Nigerian footballer and my case is not different. However my immediate aim is to make a mark in the team to be involved in future games not just these games. Hopefully it will be good enough for me to make my debut in one of the games”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.
