The goalkeepers of the Super Eagles were the most engaged in yesterday’s training session of the team as part of preparations for this weekend game against South Africa in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers.
Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent who watched the session explained that the trio of Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Daniel Akpeyi and Theophilus Afelokhai were extensively drilled by the goalkeeper trainers of the team.
During the drills, Ezenwa didn’t show any sign of rustiness despite his lack of game time as he took part in all of the physical exercises and later ball works which includes a test of their reflex.
Chippa United safe hands Daniel Akpeyi looked quite impressive as well, particularly in drills that involves using the ball and also during the shooting drills as he made saves after saves mostly due to his long reach.
Newly invited Theophilus Afelokhai looked quite the part as his ball handling and even the usage of ball at his feet stood him out. His reflex wasn’t bad as well and during the shooting drills he made as many saves as Akpeyi.
