Lokomotiv Moscow of Russia left full back Bryan Idowu is strongly pushing to reclaim his left full back slot from Jamilu Collins who is presently the first choice option for coach Gernot Rohr.
During yesterday’s close door session, Collins trained with the probables while Idowu was on the other side but Rohr swapped them before the end of the session and Idowu gave a good account of himself.
Paderborn defender Collins is however still the favorite to retain his position for the game against South Africa as Rohr will mostly likely named an unchanged defence line for the game.
The idea behind sticking with the same back four of Collins, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun and Ola Aina is part of the plans of the coach to have a steady back four for the team.
Rohr will likely field them again but Idowu who played in all of Nigeria’s game at the World Cup from the left full back position is not willing to give up his spot easily.
