The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has reversed his earlier decision to start Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi in goal for Nigeria against South Africa, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Akpeyi was prime to be in goal ahead of the duo of Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Theophilus Afelokhai but the coach has now decided to keep his faith in Ezenwa despite his obvious lack of game time.

The decision was arrived at yesterday night after the team had dinner and their usual pre match team talk and we gathered it was a decision jointly agreed by the coaches.

Also Kelechi Iheanacho will start in attack alongside Ahmed Musa with Isaac Success dropping to the substitute bench in Rohr’s 3-5-2 formation for the game, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively report.

Success was in straight fight with Iheanacho for a spot in attack to pair Musa but Rohr in the team’s meeting last night confirmed that Iheanacho will start behind Musa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
