The Super Eagles will take on the Cranes of Uganda tomorrow in an international friendly slated for the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba and it will be the perfect chance for coach Gernot Rohr to try some players, who have not gotten enough playing time with the team.
Our correspondent takes a look at the five possible changes the coach will make from the starting line up that secured Nigeria’s passage to next year Africa Cup of Nations after a 1-1 draw against South Africa on Saturday.
Akpeyi In For Ezenwa – Daniel Akpeyi was very close to manning goal against South Africa on Sunday but Rohr had a late change of mind with Ikechukwu Ezenwa getting the nod. However Akpeyi will no doubt get the chance to prove his worth to the technical crew tomorrow in Asaba.
Agu For Ogu/Etebo – One of the duo of John Ogu and Oghenekaro Etebo will be rested for Mikel Agu, who is one of the trusted players of Rohr. Agu has been in fine form for Vitoria Setubal, where he is on a season long loan from FC Porto. A chance to replicate his club form at international level will be presented to him against Uganda.
Isaac Success In – Kelechi Iheanacho didn’t have the best of game against South Africa on Saturday but he will likely keep his spot, however the coach will no doubt hand a start to Success who came in as a substitute on Saturday and it could be at the expense of Iheanacho or captain Ahmed Musa.
Semi Ajayi To Play As Centre Back – Rotherham ace Semi Ajayi will get the chance to prove his abilities in front of fans of the Super Eagles of Nigeria tomorrow as he is the for sure going to be at the heart of Nigeria’s defence after the withdrawal of Leon Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo from the squad for the friendly game.
Chukwueze & Osimhen In Attack – For now one of Chukwueze or Osimhen will no doubt start in attack tomorrow and maybe both. The lure to start them as a pair is however very strong on Rohr after their near perfect understanding in training ahead of the South Africa game.
