Rohr Speaks On What Samuel Chukwueze Adds To The Super Eagles Squad

Villarreal teen sensation Samuel Chukwueze made his senior national team bow for Nigeria in the 0-0 draw against Uganda in a friendly game in Asaba, few days after making the matchday squad for the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa which ended 1-1.

Chukwueze has enjoyed a stunning rise from the B team of Villarreal to the first team this season with goals to his name in the Copa Del Rey as well as in the La Liga and he has also played in all of their games in the Europa League.

His rise to through the ranks at Villarreal to the first team in a little over a year didn’t come to many as a surprise considering his display at the 2015 U17 World Youth Championship where he starred for eventual champions Nigeria.

Speaking on the what the 19 year old brings to the senior national team of Nigeria coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr said the fact that he plays with his left foot will give the team some level of balance, which was lacking at the World Cup in Russia.

“We need a cocktail of players with different abilities to do well in our team. Chukwueze has given us something extra because he is left footed like Kelechi Iheanacho. Every team need them because they bring balance “, Rohr said.
