The drag over the senior international future of Arsenal rising star Bukayo Saka between Nigeria and England will be a long drawn saga with the handlers of the Nigerian team banking on fellow Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi as their joker.
Saka made his professional debut for Arsenal yesterday in their 3-0 Europa League win away in Ukraine against Vorskla making him one of the youngest ever to play for the Gunners at that level.
17 year old Saka was already on the radar of the coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun before yesterday’s game with the coach hoping to have him in his squad for their campaign at next year Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
An England youth international Saka is eligible for Nigeria through his father and Nigeria are hoping to use same route like they did with Iwobi by reaching out to him via his parents, his father precisely.
Furthermore, Iwobi was listed by Saka as one of the first team players he wants to emulate in the future considering how the 22 year old Nigeria international rose from the youth ranks to the first team.
Nigeria will be hopeful he tows same line like Iwobi by playing for the senior national team of Nigeria owing to the success Iwobi has enjoyed since pledging his international future to the Super Eagles despite representing England at youth level.
