Sadiq Umar has failed to deliver at Scottish side Rangers not due to his inability as a footballer but due to poor man management by coach Steven Gerrard according to the football director of Dutch side NAC Breda.
Last season Sadiq had a productive loan spell with the Dutch side scoring as many as six goals in ten games to help the team beat the drop to the second division in Holland, and in the process almost gatecrashed the Nigerian team to the World Cup.
This season he has struggled to fit into the plans of Gerrard at Rangers and according to Hans Smulder, the football director of NAC Breda who played a big role in the signing of the forward on loan last season, Gerrard has failed to manage him properly.
” Sadiq can’t be a bad player overnight. Few months ago he was scoring in Holland. I think it’s a problem of coaching, he’s probably not getting the same he got while with us”, the director said while reacting to the poor form of Sadiq in Scotland.
According to several reports Sadiq’s loan deal could be cancelled in January as he has only made five appearances since his move in the summer. He is however expected to be loaned out again by Roma if he returns back to the club in January.
